Welcome to Itasca
Kennels, originaly from the beautiful Alpine region of Queenstown, New Zealand. After 3 1/2 years training out of Togo, Minneosta the team is now staging out of Atlin, British Columbia,
Canada. Itasca kennels consists of 6 Alaskan Malamutes and 36 Alaskan Huskies. The team has it's third race season in
North America behind it having competed in mid distances and distance classes including The Wolftrack, The White Oak Classic,
The Beargrease 130, Red River, UP200, Race to the Sky and the Beargrease Marathon. The team has alot of work ahead of it as
it builds up to a busy training and race season with plans to race three major distance races in Alaska in the 2011 /
2012 season including: Copper Basin 300Yukon 300Iditarod The true reward is doing this with
a team that we own and have raised, trained and had the opportunity to see grow from puppies in the yard to their first
hookup, right through to a strong confident distance team with the ability to run anywhere, in any condition, with confidence
and a happy enthusiasm about them. Through

News
Our 2011 season saw a young team finish 6th in The White
Oak Classic. A 7th place finish in the Beargrease Marathon after being hit by a snow mobile 20 miles into the 400mile races
loosing 4 of our key dogs including main leaders. We where also very proud to win the Best Kept team award at the Beargrease.
One week later we finished the season off traveling to Montana for Race to the Sky and the team finished strong winning
the race. The team is now enjoying some team
