Itasca Kennels NZ Sleddog Team

Welcome to Itasca Kennels, originaly from the beautiful Alpine region of Queenstown, New Zealand.

Itasca Kennels is currently training out of Togo, Minnesota, USA. Itasca kennels consists of 6 Alaskan Malamutes and 30 Alaskan Huskies. The team has it's third season in North America behind it having competed in mid distances and distance classes including The Wolftrack, The White Oak Classic, The Beargrease 130, Red River, UP200 and the Beargrease Marathon. The team has alot of work ahead of it as it builds up to a busy training and race season with plans to race five major mid distance and distance races between Minnesota and Maine in the 2010 / 2011 Season.

The teams current goal is to head into Alaska for the 2011/12 season competing in numerous distance races in the state including Iditarod 2012. The true reward is doing this with a team that we own and have raised, trained and had the opportunity to see grow from puppies in the yard to their first hookup, right through to a strong confident distance team with the ability to run anywhere, in any condition, with confidence and a happy enthusiasm about them.
