Itasca Kennels is looking for sponsorship to assist in developing
a NZ trained, owned and raced team through the 2009 / 2010 season and to compete in the 2011 Iditarod. Please refer
to Race Schedule to view a list of planned race exposure. It's a huge undertaking to develop our own kennel away from home. Our goals
are set very high, especially in the short time frame we have to achieve them in. To go from leaving everything except
our Malamutes in NZ to building a team from puppies, through training, building race experience, qualifying for and completing
Iditarod in 3 years has never been achieved by any NZ Musher in any race in the US let alone Iditarod.
Only one New Zealander has attempted Iditarod and failed to complete. This is to date the only real attempt of New Zealanders
building a team from scratch and being responsible for every aspect of a successful completion of Iditarod. By Iditarod
2011, we would have spent over 3 years full time, living with, working for and racing with Jamie Nelson. Jamie
has completed Iditarod four times, the Yukon Quest once and is a four time champion of the Beargrease Marathon. She
is considered one of the best dog trainers in the world and provides dogs for several of the top Iditarod teams including
John Baker. Jamie has given us an incredible amount of support in getting us to where we are. Itasca Kennels plans to relocate back to NZ as a team on completion of Iditarod 2011 and the actual team that races
will be available for events, advertising or any form of corporate support to sponsors. Up until Iditarod we can represent
sponsors at some of the premier sled dog events in the world.
Itasca Kennels is also looking for any
sponsors who would be willing to sponsor individual dogs or events. Please feel free to contact us any time regarding
these options. On
a final note our dogs mean everything to us. They have been a huge part of our lives for over 10 years, and for the
last two years have consumed our lives. Wether it be training or racing the well being of our dogs always comes
first. We see each one as an individual with a personality that we know inside out and love deeply. The welfare

Sponsorship Options Sponsorship is an essential element in the success of any sleddog
team in the Iditarod. Entry fees for the race are just the beginning. Years of training for both the dog team
and Musher requires funding for even the basics such as dog-food, dog racing jackets, booties, and travel expenses.
As an example each dog wears four codura booties costing just over $1 per bootie. An Iditarod team will use around 1500
alone. Team Itasca will use over 3500 for the planned race schedule. We anticipates that it will cost a minimum
of $55,000 US to get the team to Nome in 2011. Iditarod alone is the most renowned sled dog race in the world. It is broadcast on several major networks and
is annually viewed by over 5 million people globally. It is widely published in newspapers, magazines and on the internet.
Team Itasca invites support in
the way of sponsorship to help us achieve our goal and invite you into the world of endurance sled dog racing at an international
level. Exposure will not be limited to Iditarod alone but every event and race that Team Itasca attends over the next
two years. We offer the following sponsorship options:
Sponsor a Mile - $30
per mile. 1149 miles available. Choose your mile and receive a Team photo on completion of Iditarod and be listed
on our website next to the mile or miles you have sponsored. Also receive regular newsletters on team progress.
Sponsor a Dog - $300 per dog.
25 dogs available. Pick your dog from the Itasca website under “Alaskan Huskies.” Receive a photo
of your dog and the Iditarod team on completion. Your name will be put on the Itasca website with your corresponding
dog. Dog sponsors will also be listed on the Iditarod website profile page. Also receive regular newsletters on
the teams progress.
“Join the Team” Sponsorship -
$5000 per person. 2 positions available. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to live the Iditarod firsthand. Join
Team Itasca 2 days before the Ceremonial start in Alaska. Meet the team at the training camp and get to know Fleur,
Curt and the Dogs. Help take care of them and join us during our final training. Sponsors will be provided with
4 nights accommodation, tickets to join Team Itasca as guests at our table at the Iditarod Banquet prior to the race, Receive
a Musher's Handlers armband and join the team at the start line handling for both the ceremonial and actual race start.
Receive a signed Iditarod 2011 poster, Team photo and also will be listed on both the Iditarod and Team Itasca Website. This
does not include travel to Alaska.
Cooperate
Sponsorship – Team Itasca is open for corporate sponsorship and asks any business interested in sponsoring the
team to contact us to discuss options. Team Itasca will prominently brand corporate sponsors on Team apparel, Dog Truck,
Website, Dog Sled Bag and Dog Jackets. Corporate sponsors emblems will be openly displayed to increase exposure at all
races and on musher profiles online. Team Itasca is also available for appearances, speaking engagements, advertising
etc.
Team Itasca is open to any other form of Sponoship
